adding soy meal to commercial feed

Do you have access to Turkey feed? That's going to be the closest thing to gamebird feed. I am guessing the soy thing may work but is certainly not ideal. Broiler feed would be next after that. Brewing grains are also a higher protein supplement too.

Soybean meal is the way most feed mills manipulate the protein content as it is the most cost effective ingredient.
You just need to do a little math to figure it out. Your feed is 21%, SB meal is 44%.
If you mix 2 parts feed by weight to one part SB meal you end up with a mixture at 28.6%.
(21+21+44=86. 86÷3=28.6)
You will change the nutritional profile of the feed in other areas so investigate the feed changes beyond just the protein boost.
thanks

Percentage in feed is a function of weight. In 1 kg of chick starter there is .21kg of protein . 1 kg of SB meal will have .44kg. How much of each is in a cup? SB meal is more dense so the same volume will weigh more therefore upping the percentage. Figure out the formula. Get your mortality rate down then figure out the corresponding volumes.

that's right.
thanks for the info!
how much do you believe is the right protain percentage?
how about around 28% .
they say that if its summer and tou feed high protain feed your birds may die. is it true?

the amino acids percentages are very low in my feed . i dont know if its supposed to be like that. i used to feed meal worms to my newborn partridge chicks . they work but i would still lost some chicks.

Have you looked for fishmeal availability in Cyprus? It is a good protein supplement. Fishmeal will provide all the essential amino acids galliformes need.
Just adding soybean meal will up the crude protein but may not have an adequate amino acid profile for gamebird chicks.
When I used to buy an organic grower feed that was only 16% protein, I would mix it with 60% fishmeal 10 parts to 1 which raised the crude protein to 20%.
You can use a pearson's square to calculate the ratios you need.

Any animal protein will be superior to soybean meal in amino acid profile.
How about raising crickets, mealworms or soldier fly larvae for them.
After all, in nature, game bird hatchlings get their high protein from eating bugs.
You can also use fish or meat.
