adding to flock, help me choose a breed!!

Hi MD,
I was watching your thread and reading the thread about Darkeggs.com. There are breeds on there I'm not familiar with, including Iowa Blues, which are listed as very rare & developed in Iowa. I'm not endorsing them- I have no clue, but I thought I'd put it out there as an option.
Saw some Buckeyes at the PA farm show. That has me considering them too...

And you didnt let me know that would have made it worth my time to go to the show, here it is sunday night and it ended today.

Sorry- there were only a pair. I was happy to see the poultry, but wasn't overly impressed with the quality. I came home very proud of my chickens & think they are worthy of showing next year, if I decide to put them through the stress of it all. There were no dark egg layers there at all, for instance. I also had to jump through hoops to get info on who the exhibitors were. That said, there were a few there & they looked good.
There's always next year for you to go- there is so much to see there you can never get to it all and the food is amazing!

So is Mexico, but I dont want a Mexican Chicken either. Is there a Mexican Chicken?? Dont know but if I were canadian, I would be proud to raise Chantelers

I love my New Hampshires! They are beautiful, very friendly, cold-hardy, great winter layers with no extra light (other than one red heat lamp), and only a little broody.

Did I mention that they're beautiful?

They lay brown eggs and were on the ALBC list.

I also want to vote for the Barred Rock, which was my second choice after the Buff O.
