Hi there..new chicken momma,
I am adding 2-3 barnevelder pullets to my flock. The new additions are 12 weeks old. My current flock is 11 weeks old and were vaccinated before shipment for Merricks disease and coccidiosis. Would it be alright for me to vaccinate the new additions at 12 weeks of age for the same diseases? How do I access the vaccinations to give them? Are there any other vaccinations that you would recommend for my current flock? Thank you in advance!

I only vaccinate for Mareks with chicks from a hatchery. Nowadays you can vaccinate for coccidiosis as well. My birds hatched here were not vaccinated. Nowadays, you may find Mareks vaccine hard to find, since some online stores are not selling it. It has to be shipped next day in a cooler with ice packs. By the time you buy all that it can add to the cost, and the vaccine is for 1000 birds. Stromberg’s sells it, but jefferpets and others do not have it anymore. That could change.
I am editing this to say that both jefferspet and valleyvet online now have it in stock supposedly.

The best time to vaccinate is at 1 days old. If they have been around another place or at your place, they still possibly could be exposed to Mareks before they have the 2 weeks time to fully achieve immunity.
