I have had difficulty maintaining the humidity level in my Hovabator 1588 throughout incubation. Now I am in lockdown and still have to add water everyday at least once. I use tubing through the vent hole. Being tired of this I want to upgrade. When you need to increase humidity in the RCom 20 do you need to open it? I know it is supposed to be auto but I see no external water source. Thanks for any help.

Did yours come with the auto water kit? There is an insert place on the top right side of the incubator lid where you attach the clear tubing. There is a rectangular box that you hook up the clear tubing through and the other end goes into a bottle or some sort of water source. When you set it up you have to continuously press the + button to keep working the water through the tubing until its dripping into the incubator onto the sponge. I set my humidity at 75% this hatch. Last hatch I had at 55% and my eggs membranes were dried when it came to hatch time. Hopefully 75% will be better this time! Good luck!

There is a rubber lid/flap that you can lift to refill with water without opening the incubator. It's on the front right-hand corner. Be sure to only use bottled water to keep the hoses unclogged.

R-COMs are head and shoulders above Hovabators.
