Hi there!

Our elementary recently raised chicken from eggs and it was finally time to put them outside into a run. We’ve had a visit from 2/3 foxes. 1 fox the first night and 2/3 5)3 next. As you can see we’ve reinforced the side walls with the heavy duty hardware cloth on top of the chicken wire- needed to build the base and work over that! It goes down into the ground and 5ft out. But as you can see they’re still jumping up on the roof. Should I add the same hardware cloth to the roof? Is there anything else I can do to deter them? I’m semi confident there’s no gaps but I don’t want to take any chances

Do whatever you think is needed. I see that the walls are not very high. That is why Fox, is able to jump on top of roof. If he would fall in thru the chicken wire, which is possible, because chicken wire is twisted together in a weak fashion,,,, he would have difficulty escaping back out,,,,, But your chickens most certainly would be in GREAT DANGER.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome

I recommend adding hw cloth in the 4 corners and pinning it to the ground.Foxes are excellent climbers and diggers and very smart! The fact that its standing on top tells you he is trying to get in there. He knows its not as protected as it could be and looking for a weak spot
