Today was the first day we had our girls in their coop all day. They didn't move off the top of their nesting boxes. How do we get them use to being in there? They seem more happy being in the house.

Thank you, right now yes it's the highest point right now. We are planning to make their roosting bars alittle higher. If the top of the nestboxes is the highest point in the coop that's probably where they'll feel most secure.
Chickens take time to get adjusted to new surroundings.
Thanks we will gave to do that.Angling the top of the nest box about 45 degrees or more will also help stop them from wanting to sit up there, as they'll slide off.
Thanks we will gave to do that.
Thanks, we are using milk crates as nesting boxes. We looked in on our girls today while we were working in their run. They were actually down walking around and even up on the temporary roosting board. We had problems bringing them back in for the night. I told my husband we may need to leave them in their coop. He's worried about leaving right now going from warmth in the house to cold at night. This is what mine look like:
The board doesn't go all the way to the wall so the nests are vented.
