I know that we had to make adjustments for cooking times when we switched to grass fed beef, are there any adjustment for cooking free range cornish x?

I am going to roast a whole bird, what temp & time per pound should I use? My fav chick, Big Bird, turned out to be a Cornish X and if I mess up I will not be happy w/myself so I wanna get this right and couldn't find any definitive cooking times anywhere.

No adjustments that I know of...just cook until done! They don't have to be cooked slower or anything...they are just not as mushy as CX raised the other way, so they will have more texture but still won't be chewy like an older DP bird.

beekissed i saw your video on another thread. i don't understand how you can free range white birds in the woods without losing them all to predators.
you have a beautiful place, but it was hard to believe your meaties don't get gobbled up in one day.

I'll tell you the truth, I too am amazed. I can only tell you this...I knew we were in the middle of Pred Central and my best dog, a GP mix is now dead and gone. I have one dog that is too friendly with stray dogs and he is contained to an invisible fence, so I bought a Premier fence but then found it wouldn't contain birds this small.

I made a scare crow and I really think it is effective...even the buzzards will avoid the open area since she's been up but that still doesn't deter all the four legged preds around here. We have many 'yotes and foxes...so many that the woods are just barren of small game of any kind...too many big preds and too little small game. Bringing these meatballs into this area is like ringing the dinner bell and setting the table...so what to do except confine them to a pen? This I would never do, no matter if the foxes were lined up with their plates in their hands....live free or not at all, is my motto.

After all that, I concluded that the only thing that will save these birds until the end is prayer. So I prayed and asked protection for my birds and then I just stopped worrying about it.

I feel blessed each and every moment of every day! I get to be in this place, raising these animals and a garden for good, fresh food under the blue sky and a canopy of trees, with the wind in my face. I didn't do anything to deserve it or get it and God provides me with everything I need....how cool is that?
