A broody hen is like a cheat code.

LMAO! I wasn't going to give her any but then with Martini dying I figured why not see if I can hatch more of her eggs instead of them sitting for over 2 weeks before going in an incubator. And while at it why not see if any of the frizzles were fertile. and hey why not the pretty EE to check. And in case those weren't I will throw a few of the other splash girls in......... next thing I knew I was up to 9 eggs.

I do need to come up with a theme for names for the ones I keep this year......

My 2021 ones were going to be "food" names but then my grand daughter named one Rosie, my mom picked Annabelle for one (that name was her from her dads favorite chicken), one daughter picked Ditzy so my husband picked Itzy for his..... so we have some mish mosh names for that group. They are Itzy (rooster), Ditzy, Annabelle, Fajita, Rosie, Nugget, Hummer (short for Hummingbird since my aunt loved Hummingbirds), and Marshmallow. (we had a Taco but she passed at 9 weeks old, and Dolphin, for my aunt also but he was a roo so found a new flock.)

my 2022 babies are the "booze crew". I have Bacardi, Bourbon, Chardonnay, Crown, Fireball, Hennessey, Malibu, Sapphire, Tequila, twisted and Whiskey then my Rooster Jameson and RIP Martini.

I am not sure? Mine will turn 2 in April. I can check with the breeder that I got my splash eggs from for you though.

I asked the breeder. She has a bunch of 4 yr olds giving her 4 eggs a week. And sold one that was almost 5 that was still laying a lot. Hers are heritage and not hatchery so she isn't sure on those.

I candled today at day 10. All 10 shipped are doing great and the 6 of mine going strong
