forsaken flock
Hatching
Hello everyone. I live in rural east Tennessee. The river is in my front yard and our property line is against the national forest. Born and raised on a farm that has ran chickens, then dairy, now we have beef cattle.
Almost 2 months ago I came home to a grey pearl Guinea on my front porch rocker. The neighbor (Across the river and upstream) that has a variety of birds isn't missing any guineas so this stray bird has adopted me. About a week later I came home from running cattle and fixing fence to find a black hen in my yard. Again, not the neighbor's bird. This weekend I had a muckovy duck come wondering in my yard. I have become the dropping point for wayward and unwanted birds.
As entertaining as my new feathered friends are they are making a mess of my front porch. That being said, I need some sort of shelter for these birds that costs little, they can all use, and easy to keep up. I don't want to invest much in these birds after all they came looking for me. But I do want them taken care of while they are here until if/when they wonder on their merry way. Any ideas anyone can shoot my way would be much appreciated. And if anyone would like a bird or three, let me know. Thanks in advance!!!
