So I had three hens, lost one to a predator, and picked up two new ones.
After two weeks the new hens started laying and laid each day for four consecutive days.
They laid again two days later, and then stopped, and then laid again, and have now stopped.
My two original hens, though, remain faithful (I am spoiled as a result) and are the same age as my newly adopted ones, 13 months. Is this hit-and-miss laying with new hens normal? Or is it simply in their particular biology? They are all Golden Comets.
