Hello!

I am fairly new at this but things are going really well so far... I currently have 12 chickens that are 4 months old (just got my first egg too!!) and I was asked by a friend of mine if I am interested in 'adopting' 5 chicks and a mother. They don't have the room for them. Below is what I was told by the owner...

"the mother is a "buff". The chicks will be either buff or ? as they have two cocks" "5 adorable buff orpington and/or buff araucana chicks with their buff mom."

I would be more than willing to take them as I have plenty of room for them but I guess I have a few questions/concerns...

I'm concerned about introducing new chickens/chicks, will there be an issue?

Will they be layers? Is there anything I need to do, as I bought mine at the local agway store.

How do I know if they are male or female, I don't want any roosters.

Any info would be much appreciated.
