ADOR1 Automatic Coop Door?

I closed down the coop that the door was for. I wonder if I should get it fixed first or sell it as is. It seems like the motor does not respond to the button, even tho the button lights up.

I fixed mine after Rod sent me some suggestions. The tracks were nice and clear, so I tried the last suggestion, which was to take off the motor cover, remove the two LEFT nuts in the box and gently pull the left hand housing off the screws, insert 2 small washers onto the screws behind the housing, put housing back on the screws and replace nuts. Shimming out the top left of the housing, in other words. It has worked like a charm ever since. Just out of whack it would seem. Thank you Rod.

When we get back above 20 degrees I will try that. My fingers freeze too fast to try it now.

Hey question, if you don't mind me asking, what tool did you use to get to the bottom left nut? Nothing in my tool box is skinny enough to get in there.

No problem at all geekysheep, I used a nut driver that is like a screwdriver, but with a nut type head instead of a screwdriver like head. It was not quite the right size, but it did the job. It took a little to break the nut loose, in fact I used some vice grips to get enough torque on the handle, but I got it and I did not tighten the nut quite as tight as it was so if I needed to do something else, it wouldn't be quite as hard. Hope this helps...good luck.

Just wanted to say that I've had my door installed since Sept 10 and there has not once been a malfunction, partial closing, close too early or late, battery problem, etc.

The only days it didn't open is when there was 1/4" of ice on the entire thing and it was literally frozen shut.

We're going to start build coops 2 and 3 soon and we will be ordering ador's 2 and 3 soon as well.

I read a thread on here about problems with the Add-a-Motor. Seems it breaks the string due to not shutting off when it is suppose to. I guess all door openers have quirks.
I installed an adore in July and it has been problem free for the most part. I had to reset it for the late close time (guess I have late chickens) and haven't had a problem since with locked out birds. I also had a couple of days it didn't open due to being frozen shut from ice. Next summer I'm going to install a switch to cut the battery power off without having to take out screws to disconnect the battery. When we have -15 degree temps I cut the power to make sure 100% it don't open in the morning.

Good to hear colburg. Mine has been problem free since May except when I thought there was a mechanical problem that turned out to be a dud of a battery. I do find, and this is not a fault of the door, that when the temperature is above freezing at night and then dips below freezing by the morning, that sometimes the door doesn't open. If the bottom has any chicken poop, it will freeze at night holding the door down at opening time, but I just need to tap the door at the bottom, hit the button, and it opens right up. I have put cleaning the bottom of the door track on my weekly chicken "to do" list.
