ADOR1 Automatic Coop Door?

I'm planning to put my door in tomorrow. I wish the instructions came with pictures because I'm hugely a visual learner. If anyone has advice, now would be a good time! I don't want to mess this up.

Can I install it on the inside with the sensor going out through the door opening?

Hi SW... are you wanting to install the door in a recessed fashion?

Can I do it with just longer screws? Or should I get some kind of spacer as well so as not to bend the frame?

You screw the door to a board with the correct opening cut then screw the door and board to the coop. The coop opening cut will be taller than the opening for just the door. I think somewhere on Ador's site they have the plans drawn for both recessed and outside mounting. If not maybe someone can scan their drawings. Actually didn't the drawings come with your door?

That's not a bad idea, a nice solid piece of 3/4 plywood....that track frame looks like it could easily be skewed out of line causing the 'stuttering' that some folks are experiencing.

Yes, that's the word I was thinking of. Recessed so that it's mounted inside but the sensor is facing out.

The ADOR website should have plans on how to install the door in a recessed fashion... Also, if you scroll back enough pages on this thread you will see where myself and others have installed in a recessed fashion as well. To me, it makes for a cleaner look and provides a bit of protection for the door from the elements.

Thank you.
I checked this morning, and it looks like to do that my pop hole needs to be cut bigger than the 10.5x13 though so I'm not sure that's a viable option after all. I also think that I could install outside and then change to inside later if I change my mind, but once I cut that hole bigger there's no going back.

I'll ponder it at work today and decide later.

That's what I did. I installed it on the outside when I first got it and later when I had the time made the hole taller and moved it to the inside. I like it better inside as it allowed me to trim it out nicely.
