Adorable chickie story-anyone ever had this happen??

I was cleaning the coop one day and this one hen would not leave her box. I had already collected an egg from under her so I didn't get it! I was expecting her to go into the "bawk-bawk-ba-cawak-bawk" that they normally do after laying an egg but no. I was sort of worried so I went to look in on her and when I got to her she was sort of convulsing a bit and then I see this brown egg come out from under her tail feathers. It was still slick and warm (as you described) when I touched. I thought this was the kewlest thing I'd ever seen. (Well, other than seeing my pet rabbit give birth...but, it's right up there with that!)

...THEN, she did the "bawk-bawk-ba-cawk-bawk" as she hightailed it out of the coopp!

Cool stories! I've got one too. I apologize if I've already shared it.
We had a bunch of friends over one afternoon for a cookout. Our friend Mike knew nothing about chickens to the point that we had the whole yes a hen can lay eggs without a rooster story. I went down to where my two red sex links were hanging out and scooped up the friendlier one so he could pet her. The next thing I knew there was a warm fresh egg in my hand. Mike was stunned and wanted to know how I got her to do that. Like that's how I collect eggs every morning! "Hand it over Rosie!" with my hand out!!!

No kidding. The one I have that still lays, lays where ever she darn well pleases. In compost pile. Under the deck in the dirt. In the leaf pile behind the stone wall.... ugh.

I had one of my young pullets lay an egg in my hand last year. I had gone out to open the door behind the nesting boxes, which is where they enter and exit when they are free-ranging. This little girl was mililng aroung in one of the boxes, so I just stood there and petted her for a few minutes. While I was petting her she kept turning around and backing up into my hand. Being slightly dense, I didn't get it until she plopped her butt down onto my hand and laid an egg into it!!! Wow!!! I was absolutely speechless!!!
