Oh wow. I've had a super busy late summer/early fall. I've been working on reducing my flock numbers for the winter. I'm keeping 11 girls, and my Whiting True Blue rooster.
3 Ameraucana, 2 Marans, 2 Welsummers, 1 mixed that I hatched this spring, and 3 older hens I got from my neighbor when they moved. This will give me a really nice egg basket with white, blue, brown and speckled eggs.
I learned a lot about my limitation this summer and I'm excited for hatching this next spring. I think I will stick to hatching chicks for myself this next year so I can focus on other things. I've learned that I'm not a very good business person and I have been letting my birds go at a cost to myself, but I have learned a ton from hatching, raising and processing my own birds.
