Hi! Today I noticed one of my duckies had laid a super soft-shelled egg. She's been laying for about 10-11 months now and I've never seen this. I am going to run to the store to get oyster shell to add to their feed, but does anyone know why this might be happening? She's the only one that has done it (or is doing it). I have never had an issue with my duck eggs until now. Is this a fluke, or should I be worried?

Also - will adding oyster shell to everyone's feed be harmful to those producing regular eggs? Fwiw, I have a mixed flock of pekin ducks and chickens.

Don't add oyster shell to the feed, just offer it on the side and let them eat as much of it as they want. It is not unusual to see a soft shelled egg every once and awhile but it can be an issue if you get more of them so just keep an eye out.
