Adult female (hen) ducks and chicks

We’ve had ducks for sever years now. We now have only three hens that we rescued. They are strange-I guess because they had a stressful young life! They just drop their eggs in the pond! Anyway, we just acquired 5 baby chicks, almost 4 weeks old. About to put them out in their coop (we live in Texas) and will not let them out with ducks right now. My question is, how do I know when it’s okay to let the chicks out with the duck hens? We do have hawks!

When the chicks are around the size of the ducks they should be ok.
