Jake, Finn and TreeTrunks are nearing their 11th month since hatch day, and we sure have had some eventful past few months. I've picked up quite a few more hours at work and school is nearing graduation time, so the ducks have been spending quality time with my dear boyfriend (DBF). That means that things like this happen:
Apparently, Finn enjoys being a top hat.
I discovered TreeTrunks' nest full of 6 eggs underneath the bbq last week.
While the DBF and I took the night arguing if we should let her hatch them, something
snatched them by the morning. Obviously, I was for babies and wanted to move the nest inside.
He, on the other hand, said one "hat" is enough. Here's Mama Tree. I will let her hatch some soon.
I know she will be a great mama.
We've also been working on weening the trio off of us. They are NOT imprinted, but sometimes
they sure do act like it. There are nights where I have to sleep next to their pen to calm them down.
We are quitting that bad habit, I mean, my goodness! They are nearly one years old!
So we moved their pen out of our bedroom, and ignore their cries at night. Also, they are spending
more time outside without supervision. Such a scary thought for me. Just look at those faces! How am
I suposed to say no to that!
Lastly, we finally found a new place to live! Not many people like the idea of living next to people
with ducks in their backyard. It took months until we finally convinced someone to give us a chance.
I bribed this lady with a basket of eggs and the most adorable pictures I could find of the Adventure Ducks.
I wrote a cover letter addressing the misconceptions of ducks. Thankfully it worked! The next thing we did was
find the nearest beach and celebrate.

And then slept on the way home!

We are all very excited to start a new chapter with the ducks in a real house,
with a real backyard. We plan on finally building a coop for them, and a pond!
They will have grass to roll around too! Maybe we can finally get them to play
fetch.
