Adventure Ducks Checking In: Month 11

Guess they are not effective, thanks for the info. Glad I didn't by any.
I have 8 of them

most less than a year old and at least 2 don't work anymore. I won't be buying any more. I think our motion lights work better.

How do motion lights affect racoons? My guess is they would just ignore them.
I'm thinking it's the affect of them all of a sudden being in bright light. Here they are walking around in total darkness then a flood light comes on and their in full view, of what they have no idea but They leave the area pretty fast.

Interesting. I have never seen a raccoon leave anywhere fast unless they are being shot at.

They get pretty brave here but most of the time when the light comes on my dogs are out the door so that may give them even more reason to leave the area, our duck houses and coop's are right next to our house. Which makes it pretty easy to chase something off. I only caught the one raccoon walking up the ramp with the pred light flashing but I will say this that coon had it's head down like it was avoiding the light but was still walking right up the ramp anyway. Also had an Owl land on the ramp with the light flashing. I was very disappointed that some of them stopped working after after about 6 months too, and of course I misplaced my receipt so couldn't send them back

Sorry to hear about your less than enthusiastic experience with the pred lights. I will not buy any. So far I have been lucky in the pred department. They are here: coons, foxes, coyotes, hawks, owls, fishers, and mink and since January 2012 they have not bothered my ducks. I really don't know why as my beloved khakis are certainly in vulnerable positions from time to time. I feel really lucky and wonder when the time will come when one is injured or taken.

And thanks for posting this information about pred lights. Do you think it might be worth posting your information in a thread dedicated to pred lights? I think your experiences will be of value to others.
