Best of luck!

WE HAVE A HAWKS NEST IN OUR BACKYARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We spent out first few days in our new house and I took the ducks outside and set up their pool, food, and toys and I hear this tiny squawk. The first thought in my mind "omg a hawk" because I am paranoid. Then I look up in to one of the trees and I see THREE hawks: a mama, a daddy and their tiny pipsqueak. Just my luck.

The ducks have not had an unsupervised minute outside at all, which is making unpacking quite difficult.
We're in the process of making their covered run, but it's so hard with 6 beady eyes peering down at you all day!

I think hawks are beautiful, and have a place in the large scheme of things, make the space as safe as you can and everyone can live together in peace.

They definitely are beautiful creatures. The little one is just a fluff ball now. It squeaks all day. Very adorable. My ducks are talking back to it. Also adorable. They make the strangest friendships.

So that hawk has some guts! I'm assuming its the baby hawk all grown up because of how wild it's antics are. It's attacked three times with me only a few feet away!

It's getting quite ridiculous. I can't believe the hawk is trying to swoop with me within arms reach away.

Now my three ducks scatter at every falling leaf. Poor babies

Some can be pretty bold from what I have read on here. And it maybe the baby and looking for an easy meal. Poor babies having to worry about this hawk wanting to eat them. if only you were holding the hose with the spray nozzle pointing at him.

My babies have been hiding inside all day! They've been so quiet too. I wish I could speak hawk and make a compromise with it so my ducks can have their backyard back!

I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the juvenile cooper hawk that was harassing my babies hasn't been seen in a week or so. The bad news is because a GIANT red tail hawk has claimed it's space and my Jake. These hawks are ruthless and its not even winter yet.

I was out in the yard with the ducks and this red tail swoops down and snatches Jake before I could grab her. Thankfully the hawk couldn't fly off with my little fatty. It did manage to drag my baby across the yard though. It refused to let go until I hit it with a broom. It flew up into a near by tree and watched while I swooped up my girl. She had some puncture wounds on her neck and a claw mark above her eye. She wasn't making any noise though. Not a single scream during the whole ideal.

Once I had Jake the other two ducks ran from under their cover bush straight to me and we went inside. I cleaned Jake up, disinfected her and let her have a warm bath. She slept all day and night. The next day she was perky. She's eating and pooping and I'm so lucky that she's alright. I would have been devastated if that hawk had stolen her right under my nose.
