Adventures in Cayuga Mama-ing

Oh! And I was wrong!! Mama is snuggling the fosters when they’re not zooming about the run. When I went back to check on the egg, they were all snuggled in the nest. 🥰
And the egg is pipped, and chirping!! I’m on pins n needles! It’s an Australorpe/EE backyard blend (an Austra Egger! Easterlorpe?) I can’t wait!!

And here’s the new baby! And proud mama! And the unwitting genetic stock, lol

Boy those open waterers are scary. I had a chick jump into a bucket and it’s amazing how high they can jump.
Those are out in the main yard. They only have access to that for 15-30 minutes or so in the am and again in the pm, and I stand right there to supervise the whole time until Mama takes everyone back to the nest. You’re right, though!! Seeing the Olympian feats that tiny ball of fluff does to keep up with the bigger birds is pretty astounding!
