Adventures in Incubating Shipped Eggs

Pics
You guys can understand....

When you order 12 shipping eggs from 1 shipper, and 8 from another knowing your incubator can hold 24 on their sides, but not sure how many upright.

Delivery day arrives & you got 27 eggs you paid a couple of hundred dollars for (shipping included). What do you do?

No broody....

Ya double stack a few lettingnature decide which ones to cull!

Poll- do you guys hatch up right in carton or lay them down in the bottom of incubator? I’m going into lockdown down. I have incubated upright in carton until this point, all of the air cells are where the should be a few are somewhat saddled. What is the best way. By the way I’m using a janoel 12 so with the carton in there no room for hatch chicks to move around if that’s an issue.

I am glad you asked. I have 27 in my janoel12. Packed in tight. I am sure so lose some because they are shipped eggs(we just loaded the incubator). I have had better success with hatching on sides, but have not hatched shipped eggs so I am also interested in the answer.

This is my first shipped egg experience too. If you have them upright in egg carton be careful not to put too close to the egg turner rod, I did lose one egg because the rod put a hole in it.
