Adventures in my backyard

That very 'green' yard is mainly weeds. It's out of control!

Those 'plants' behind the clothes line are just bamboo... the neighbours bamboo which is incredibly invasive and basically a weed. It throws out runners under ground and under a 3m slab of concrete and has new shoots everywhere. I hate hate hate it! But the chooks really enjoy eating the baby shoots. Shame they can't eat enough of it to keep it under control! That's how nuts it is!

Most of the plants in those photos are weeds... but they are very green.

It's a big rosemary bush behind the chook in the last two photos. They like to hide under it and cool off in the heat.

The black chook has worms (not in the literal sense) she just loves to get out of the yard and walk up and down the street. We have a lot of leaf litter around our house and she loves it as it decomposes and has heaps of worms!!

YUM!

I rather like the idea of my chickens packing up their rucksacks, putting their passports in the pockets of their bloomers, and jumping on a plane to Oz.

Thanks again Vicky for showing us your little girl and your invitingly green yard! The eye begins to hunger for that particular shade of green this time of year in the north!
