Thanks so much for the advice and thanks Steve for your kind words, I am pleased to say that we have one living chick and he/she is just gorgeous, she/he is a smokey grey at the moment and the chick is doing well! They have ventured outside today and mum took a dirt bath and baby got smoothered with dirt as well :) We are happy that we have one chick and I am sure Cocoa is happy to have a baby chick as well! We are now waiting with anticipation as we have 2 ducks and a drake and motherduck has been sitting on a clutch of eggs for almost a month. She is a muscovy duck and they sit for about 35 days, so not long now.. We are also new to ducklings as well and I am busy reading and researching and then to top it all off I have 3 guinea fowls that I fell in love with and adore, I had no idea if they were male or female, however we have a female and she is sitting on 30 plus eggs...wow. I discovered her nest as I thought she had disappeared but no she is happily playing mum. I can not believe what is happening on my acres, they are all wanting to become mums! Everything I have read about guinea fowls says they are terrible mothers, but I went to out grain store and spoke to the gentleman that owns it and he said if she is sitting on that many eggs she is a good mum and will be a good mum...I am amazed to have seen her on soooooooo many eggs, I was wondering when I might get to see what a guinea fowl egg looked like and was hoping that my guinea would have an egg, well certainly she has an egg a whole 30 plus.....Anyone with advice about ducks and guineas please feel free to pass on your knowledge, information sharers are wonderful and they help ppl like me to learn quick....once again thanks and I just love the 'friendliness' of this site a big thank you from Down Under (Australia)
