Advice for chick's swollen vent? UPDATE message #13

My chick which had swollen vent is about 9 weeks old now and is all normal! here is what i did: If your chick has pasty butt clean immediately. I then applied cortisone cream to it. Prep H is filled with too many toxins and many poultry experts suggest against it. If your chick is being pecked it is probably best to isolate it but make sure it can still see its friends. It took about 3 days for my chicks swelling to go down then once the swelling was down i left it alone with no cream so it could heal on it’s own without agitation. My chick that had it also was the runt and wouldn’t eat as well. i recommend feeding it boiled egg and tofu (helps with hydration). put the chick back with its friends with supervison and place the foods on carboard and let the other chicks eat it as well (the carboard will make a loud noise and hopefully attract the sick chick) if all goes well the chick will join them too eat. I gave my sick chick nutri drench as well (a supplement that helped it gain the vitamins she needed) I hand fed it to her to make sure she was getting it. I know this is a lot but i just want to send some encouragement your way and wish you luck! let me know if you have any questions ❤
Thank you so much!!! I will boil some eggs right now and go buy some cortisone cream. I feel so bad for it. It chirps occasionally like it’s in pain and it’s bum is throbbing. I will follow your treatment, and hopefully we will
Have the same success. I’m glad your baby chick made a full recovery.
