Advice for making a close bond with your flock

There are less expensive treats you can give them too! Even turning over a rock for them to eat bugs is appreciated for sure! And a too ripe tomatoe is a great treat for chickens, they seem to like all the fruits, even veggies.

Mine love the bugs under the overturned rocks too. The younger juvies aren't sure about tomatoes but the older flock loves them. They all go crazy for squash and zucchini though, and to a certain extent cucumbers. I try to give them something each morning and save the meal worms for when I want them to come inside. They don't get those every day either. It makes them appreciate them even more!

Mealworms sure are expensive for a bag, looks like you care for your chickens alot. I can tell you will have a VERY life alerting relationship. My chickens compete to run to me and hop up onto my lap and eat out of my hand, too.

Mealworms a very easy and cheap to farm is you want to feed them to your chicken without the cost. I bought a thousand and some bulk wheat bran. I give them a piece of apple or carrot every few days for water. I now have TONS of mealworms. They turn into beetles then lay eggs and make new worms and you never have to buy them again. There are some great threads on this site about it if you are interested or you can message me.
