returning from a weekend away, one of my black copper marans has no desire to leave the nest box, not even to eat live crickets!! this is day 3. the first day I petted her and she did not complain (she is the bully of the flock - usually on the aggressive side). I picked her up, still no complaining! checked her all over - appears healthy. day 2 - petted her, she growled (not unusual), I let her be. day 3 - petted her, no growl but talking quietly. I picked her up again - no feather on her underside area - skin appears healthy, not mites, irritation or inflammation. so maybe not sick but broody? she must be eating although I have yet to see her leave the nest.
