Advice needed...first incubation

There we go. Any readings you make with it now just add 5% for accuracy. Doing that will keep you +/- 1% of true and that's more accurate than you need to be for hatching. The main thing is now you know your gauge is not completely out of whack and reads about 5% low.

So the humidity has been at 16% for a day...so that means it is really 20%, right? Is that still ok or do I have to put some water in there???

Exactly, and it also lets you know your hygrometer is a bit slow to read (mine reads true on salt test by 4 hours some take longer) so any changes made you don't worry there is not an "immediate" effect or think the guage will read true instantly.

You must be past 7 days or nearing 10 on your hatch. Candle and see how the air sac is growing. If it looks good to the diagram on first page of this thread then up the humidity. Again, I like 35% ish others say higher and still others say lower. What everyone should agree on though is proper air sac growth (water loss in egg) and for me that's about 35% humidity first 18 days.
