Advice needed! How to properly discipline a dog.

Would you believe me if I say we have one and it doesn't work?

She literally chews through metal and escapes. She has done so at least 10 times. The kennel is on concrete and fortified with extra wire. Does nothing to stop her. Nothing. There is now wood planks screwed on in several places because she alone has chewed through the wire so much. Panels were flipped even, that's how much she does it.

Her sister doesn't even do anything. Just her.

And when she gets out she either attacks my chickens or runs across two highways only to be found by some random stranger.

WOW sounds like a handful.

I would get a bigger run space and work on a daily exercise plan for her.

Just read the hip problem thing.

Is she in meds for the hip pain?

Maybe a big run space at least 10x20 and hot wire to prevent chewing?

Ugh. I have known dogs to scale fences, dig under fences, and yes, some how chew/bend/rip seemingly strong wire cages/fencing breaking teeth and claws and injuring themselves in the process.

I think this is the brand of crate that is meant to be good for dogs that can break out of anything, unfortunately this is only a crate though and not a larger fenced area.

I have a similar problem with my two pit bulls, they were fine for years around all of my animals and my nephew. Then within one week, I had one dog maul one of my chihuahuas, and the other one nipped my nephew and killed one of my hens. Both of these dogs have extensive training, but out of the blue, it just happened. Now they have their own runs/kennels in the yard and they are happy as ever from what I can see. I would have rather rehomed them (since they don't get to come in and thus don't get nearly as much affection in a day) but it's hard to find anyone around here that will take a pitbull, let alone one with aggressions towards children on record. Anyone who wants one tends to want to use it for dog fighting.

Assuming she primarily chews the corners and bottom of the kennel fence perhaps adding hotwire to the dog kennel could be effective :idunno
Hmm. Didn't think of that.

Except guess what? Huskies are the breed most known to ignore electric fences/shocks.

:th

As much as I love my girls, I will never own another Husky. They are almost impossible to keep inside of an area.

Could try hot pepper oil maybe, works for my horses when they eat the fences? Looks like it's not toxic for dogs, just an irritant.
