Advice needed NOW!!!!!

I am still stooped at the fact that it happened to. She just jumped I guess with her last boost of energy and flew into the back of the shed. By the time I got to her her head was in between the spokes and it was over.

I also hope it helps some to. I have now figured out that we aren't gonna purchase any more chickens unless they are purebreds. I think the Golden Comets have this problem because they are bred to lay a high number of eggs and their bodies just can't keep up with the demand, therefore causing them to become eggbound.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's NEVER easy to lose one, that's for sure. I am sort of on the same page as you; I've been looking into feed, and have found a manufacturer (Buckeye) that makes a feed that actually slows down the gowth process...so many times, we are in such a hurry for them to lay, we don't think of the issues they can have with their bodies being rushed. I'm going to try this new feed when my current batch is old enough. Here's a quote on the feed: "Designed to control body weight and delay sexual maturity in order to reduce the incidence of "blowouts" and premature egg laying."

I am so sorry for your loss. Again as said before maybe this will help someone else. Great job on the necrospy I am not sure I could do it.
Thank you again for all the info.

That food sounds neat. I have had a chicken or two Blow out and we lost them. It is a sad situation.
