Day 24. We had an internal pip yesterday determined by candling. I gave an air hole 12 hours later. After 12 more hours peeled back shell only. I saw a bit of blood so stopped. Overnight there is more blood showing. No sign of chick absorbing veins in fact they seem larger. Should I cull? Should I wait?

I culled her. She was suffering. I don’t know why this one egg was different. 8 hatched successfully on Friday. I tried to move the eggs around in the incubator when I candled two different times to avoid any being in the corners of the incubator. For some reason this one egg failed to thrive.

I have learned to never move eggs inside the incubator once put. If you are manually rotating then try to place back in the same spot as before. Temperature variations are never good for hatching eggs.

Thank you for the links. I have some beautiful chicks from the hatch. The ones that I had trouble with were the Araucana eggs. I do have a double tufted rooster and that may have been part of the issue with the egg. I noticed a few babies have white hair tufts on one side of their face.
