I finally located a farm with fertile hatching eggs, but in the end I am less than impressed at the exchange.
The lady stated her flocks were NPIP certified, but when I got there and asked for a copy her certificate was expired since March.
I guess that's what I get for not asking to see a copy up front.
I bought the eggs anyway as she seemed trustworthy....

On to my actual question; 2-3 of the eggs have some poop on them and I don't think I will be placing them under my broody. I feel like I have already taken enough risks with this mini project. I only got a dozen so if I leave them out I will only be setting 9 :/
I would love to get some feedback as to whether everyone worries shout a bit of poop on a hatching egg or not.
Thanks!

I bought some eggs from someone at a flock swap (my first time hatching eggs) We do not have a broody hen so I have an incubator...anyway the lady told me not to wash them unless I was going to eat the eggs....she told us that we could harm the insides to where they wouldn't hatch so I never washed them...we had almost a 90% hatch rate though! I read though on a blog that if we wanted to wash them not to let them be under water for longer than 4 minutes so I"m not sure?

Just scrape the poop off with your fingernail, etc. You can probably spot clean with a damp paper towel, but I'm not sure you need to. I have one hen who poops on her egg every single blessed time and I've hatched a few of her eggs just fine. You don't want to wash them, you'll wash the bloom off.
