My 18 month old RIR has intermittently been laying no-shell or soft-shelled eggs. Today I saw part of a very soft shell and yolk stuck to her back feathers, pulled it off then had a look at her vent - there was more of a very soft shell, with white and yolk gunk, sticking out her vent and I have pulled it out. Her vent seems more red and swollen than usual. Otherwise healthy, eating and drinking. Not noticed a poop yet. I can't take a photo as I'm here by myself during the day.
So, assuming the egg broke in her vent, there is likely more inside her. What shall I do? My husband will be home later to help out as needed. I understand this is very dangerous for her and love her dearly so any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
