Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I have been severely limiting my social media time, everything is so fake. I haven't had a facebook account for a few years and really loathe it, but if it helps find a nice young lad that fits the bill, as soon as you have him, you can let it go dormant or even cancel it. :)
I believe you can "deactivate" it so you don't delete it but it'll be frozen until you need it again.

👋
Lots of flowering plants, butterflies and birds near the great monastery of Chambery in the lower French Alps.

speckled wood on hemp agrimony?
(Are we still playing 'what's in my photo?' :D)
I cant share any new photos of my flock atm. My dear neighbour takes care of them right now. She even lets the girls free range 1-2 hours every evening. 💚

So I shared a vacation photo that seemed fit. Mountains, a foot path, nons or a monastery where the other options from todays hike.

Compliments that you know both names. Both speckled wood and hemp agrimony go way beyond my normal English vocabulary. Especially because I don’t even know the Dutch names for them.

I have a non-rooster sourcing question!

I can't really tell from this photo - could this be borage (Borago officinalis)? Because if so, my chickens adore it. They've loved it almost to death, in fact. Also the bees, of course - bumblebees and some honey bees (we have fewer honey bees this summer.)

As borage grows, it gets incredibly floppy under its own weight, sprawling everywhere, but it's lovely and will come back in following years.

Borage should grow here but I haven't seen any locally. Something is out competing it. It could be the nettles. It's not the top nettle top growth that's a problem, it's the root system once they've got established. It has made digging in hardware cloth aprons very irksome around the run.
