We have 10 chickens.
We also have a potting shed they use as a coop and that has three nest boxes. Then we have a coop with 2 nest boxes that 3 of the girls are using though they are in the same run and are all together all day long. At the moment Agnes goes from her coop to lay in the potting shed and Mable and betty come from the potting shed to lay in the other coop? In the potting shed there are 3 nest boxes but they all fight over the one left hand side box. The 2 in the coop are used.

Anyhow resent storms moved the potting shed a couple of feet would you believe and now the other coop has subsidence due to all the rain. We are not trying to re sort things. My question is how many nest boxes would you recomend and what size. Also how big a coop would be ok - for 10 chickens We have Marans, Suzzex, RIR/PR

Thanks Oesdog

Out of 14 that are together I literally had to help 6 out of one box last week. It was funny after I got them out, but thought they'd all sufficate. They were stuck!

I have 6 boxes and they use 3. I think they say 1 box for every 3-4 hens, but my hens didn't read the book.

For 10 chickens, 2-3 nest boxes should be sufficient. I think it is 2cu. ft per chicken?
