It has been a cool and wet July. Normally my chickens in the outside coop fare well, but these are meat chickens that might be edging toward pneumonia. they will be butchered next week - is it safe meat? This is the first time I tried meat chickens, I have egg layers that are just fine and I will NEVER do meat chickens again!
Thanks for your help, info, advice

I would say yes they would be ok to butcher. I have read that most if not all of the harmfull things get killed off at 165 degrees, but I'm sure someone more possitive than me will chime in. Good luck.

Its probly CRD they have not pneumonia

I don't know the answer to your question since I am one of those, "my chickens are my pets" people,

but you might get better answers over on the "meat chicken" forum. If this doesn't work for you try there. They aren't bad people, even if they do kill and eat their own chickens....

thanks - i'll try the 'meat forum' as well. and thanks for the welcome! I forgot to introduse myself - we have a small alpaca farm, and the chickens are workers as well - parasite control. my egg layers are fun to watch and get along great with the alpacas. all one big happy family!
