I thought I’d update this thread for anyone with similar problems. I rehomed six pearl guineas, five days ago. I thought they were all male but heard a buckwheat call while driving to their new owner. That left me with nine guineas, with probably only one male left, a lavender. I kept them penned for three days then let them back out yesterday. They are a pretty sad group. They are quieter, subdued, and hovering around the coop more than ever. I’m worried that they will be worse at predator avoidance. The last male still chases off the three subordinate female guineas (two purple and one lavender), who still hang at the fringes. When I was walking the ducks back to the coop yesterday, guineas mobbed us, though I think they were looking for food/comfort from me, not attacking. Ducks ran away in terror, so I got a water gun and escorted the ducks up again, shooting the guineas as they got close. I felt terrible for the poor, already depressed guineas, but the ducks were happier!
