Yesterday I made my first attempt at breeding rabbits. I've got a 9-month old buck and two does, 10 and 11 months, all silver foxes. Yesterday was the first time any of them had been bred (maybe).

I did morning and evening sessions with both does and the buck mounted several times, and did a lot of jackhammering, but no fall-offs. None.

I don't know if the does were helping out by lifting their rumps. I'm not sure what that would look like but I didn't notice it happening.

Last evening I searched online and found that, yes, there are some abby-normal bucks that don't "fall off." And the only rabbit breeding mentor I've had told me to breed twice on Day 1 and then try again on Day 2. And if Day 1 was a success, the does will reject the buck on Day 2.

Well, today is Day 2 and neither doe rejected him. However, he did have fall-offs on some of his mounting attempts, so maybe he isn't abby-normal after all.

Anyway, all that to get to this. Is there any harm if I start counting from yesterday for my gestation calendar, just to be safe (which might make me a day early for palpation and kindling boxes, etc). Or should I take it for granted that yesterday's attempts were unsuccessful and start counting from today?

Start from the first day for sure. Sorry this is late. I'm new. If you ever need rabbit advice please contact me 😉 I have a Rabbitry so I should be able to help most of the time.
