Advice on my egg that is hatching?

I am sorry he didn't make it. His beak should have been under his wing, not under his leg. With the leg in the way he'd have had a difficult time zipping.

It's the kicking around in the shell that gets the yolk to retract. If they can't move, they can't kick. You did all you could, but it's not always enough. Assisting is a last chance effort.

I am curious what is hanging off from him as well.. Anyone know?


The chick seems perfectly fine now. I'm guessing it was his umbilical cord and maybe some membrane mucus type thing. Another one came out with it too and his wasnt attached. It came unattached to the chick so I think it was part of his cord and he's fine now! Anyone else know?
