Advice on new puppy sex please..

I'd probably go w/ a female, since you already have two males and one female, and especially since one male is already working to move up in status. I had 2 boys and one girl, and now I have two girls and one boy. I don't guess I have a preference. Currently I am staying w/ family and the girls way out number the boys (my one male dog is currently the only male, w/ 6 females), we have small, medium, and large, and no issues.

Now I've seem more problems w/ females then males, I've known a few females that just could not get along no matter what, but as long as the current female doesn't have any dominance issues than I'd still say go w/ a female.

We have a St./Newfoundland cross, Great Pyr./Border Collie cross, Pure Breed Great Pyr., and a Blue tick heeler/Aus. Shepard/Rat Terrior cross we usually go through 50-75 pounds of dog food every 7-10 days. I know with the larger dogs if you elevate their feed and water dishes off the ground it helps to prevnt bloat because they aren't intaking so much air when eatting or drinking..
On a side note a friend of mine has a dog she needed to put on a diet and so she bought the diet dog food. Well she ended up switching back to the normal dog food because when the dog had the diet food---which was twice as exspensive the dog just ate twice as much and normal..

Not having read all the posts, I have to say Female. Your PACK has already established it's dominate. A female coming it would be less aggressive towards everyone (in general) and move right into it's position in the pack. You can really get anything you want depending on how much time and energy you have to spend with all the dogs. But a female would fit in better. JMHO based on books and experience.

In my humble opinion. I think that a female would be a better bet.

And really as long as it is a pup they will know it is a pup and they will work it out.

But males will always want to dominate and it may be a problem later on when the pup gets older and he tries to step up in the pecking order.. I prefer females, they seem calmer and a bit more sane.. Tee hee.

Mom to A Chow Chow, Keeshond, and an American Eskimo (white spitz), 2 cats, many chickens, ducks, and geese.

Peace and blessings,
Jan

I know people with 3 intact males (Mastiffs) no problems unless there is a grump in heat! I think since you are getting a young puppy that a "pecking order" will be established-(just like if you got a girl dog)
Good Luck,
B.
