So we def have a surprise roo. Some of the helpful people on here have helped me with identifying his real breed. He is a dark brahma bantam. Obviously not papered.

Tech, I think I can have a roo according to our codes. We do have a third of an acre but we also have neighbors within rock throwing distance (if you have a strong arm). The bedroom windows of two of those houses face my chicken coop and yard. Today was the first day I was awake early enough to hear his full tilt crowing. It's cute and no where near as loud as I would have expected but def non stop. I do not get along with my neighbors and while they haven't said anything, I'd rather not invite trouble. So I'm going to sell him. I don't really know what to price him at. He is almost 13 weeks old. I figured $10 was a reasonable amount to ask for but I have no clue. Any advice on what to charge for a little roo?

I find $10 dollars to be a good price because most people have the same problem as you and Cannot keep the cute little guy so keeping the price lower will help attract a buyer

Start at $10, but also state "or best offer." Be prepared to have to take "nothing" A pullet at that age would be $10 to $20. Roosters, as you will likely find out, usually have little value.

Unless it is a very valuable breed, honestly, you can barely give them away. The only rooster I've ever been able to sell was a french line, Black Copper Marans from a valued breeder. The rest hit the soup pot or are given away for free....if I can find any takers.

I agree with Lady. Since he's a more unusual breed, you may be able to get that for him. I'm always thrilled if I can give cockerels away, I don't usually ask anything for them.

Kudos to you for wanting to be a good neighbor, even if you don't get along with them! As Lady stated, start at $10, be willing to take "best offer" even if it means giving him away. Don't ask where he's going or what their plans are.
