advice on rehabilitation

just a bit of an update! Poppy is def not going to die! she's made a full recovery. the challenge now is that her flock wont have her back. We've purchased three youngsters to make a new flock with her. Sadly she's not very happy to meet them. Any tips and hints on getting her in with the newbies. has anyone out there created a new flock? how ong did it take the original hen to accept the new ones?

thanks

So glad that she is doing well, but it can be hard to reintegrate a chicken who has been out of the flock for more than a week. I had a hen who was not able to balance on her feet for about 5 weeks. When she was much better, the whole flock attacked her. After much trying, she had to spend months on the opposite side of the chicken fence where they could see each other, but not get hurt. One day they just accepted her back with only a little pecking. Maybe she will get used to the smaller ones, and when they are able to go into the big flock, she might be accepted. It is always different in every situation.

thanks very much. she is chasing them off less. i've shut her in a run next to them during the day and last night they all went up to bed together - after a little bit of argy bargy and her being territorial over the nest box they settled down together . so i'm hopeful.
