I have a hen that is constantly getting her poop stuck in the lower area of her vent. This has been going on for a while now.
Her poop is of a "creamy", sticky consistency and im concerned that there might be a bigger issue at hand.

She hasn't been eating as much as before and although her abdomen feels full, I can feel her sternum to be very pronounced as if she had lost a lot of weight, but she feels to be as heavy as she usually is.

I initially thought that her feathers might be the issue as she's a silkie, but I trimmed her feathers and the issue persists.

Ive had to consistently clean the area out and apply treatment as the moisture in her poop was a risk for an infection on her skin.

Any leads as to what the cause may be?

What are you feeding? Any treats? Can you post a photo of the poop in question? How old is she? Is she actively laying?

I might not be able to help myself, but these are some of the questions an Educator might ask when they see this.

One thing I can tell you is that I've had sticky poops with wheat-based feeds and certain treats, like apples. Had to put my birds on an elimination diet to find the culprit. Of course, your issue could be entirely different.

I feed her a mix of pellets and corn, but she also has access to grass and whatever treats she might find in there.

I will post a photo as soon as possible.

She is around 4-5 years old, im not entirely sure how old she is as I bought her as a young hen. No, she is not actively laying.

Thanks for your reply and the advice!
