Advice on roosters

Thank you everybody! The "chicken condo" is coming along well and we will be moving them out soon! I may just give this little roo a chance to keep wrapping us around his sweet little heart!

This is Tuffy, a 3 year old black Cochin I received as a free chick. I couldn't ask for a better rooster. Not noisy although he does crow occasionally. He's a gentleman with the girls and a gentle giant. :love

p.s. It takes a microscope to see sperm inside an egg so nobody would notice that the egg is fertile as long as the eggs are fresh. And you don't mention it. ;)

Thank you for all your input! we will probably keep Happy and see how it goes. he is very laid back. as most of you have commented, he is very gentlemanly. he is usually the first to come to me and check out whats going on for his girls. he has quite the harem already. lol

The other 3 roos are pearl white leghorns and already exhibiting some fairly aggressive behavior. i am going to separate them from the flock when we move them outside next week and raise them for meat.

again, thanks for all your feedback and input!

I agree that not all roosters are mean. My black Cochin unfortunately was. Each time I would let the flock out to free range he was ready to chase or attack. He was very protective of the flock. One day he went over the fence into the neighbor's yard and a stray dog got him.

My Mr Spot is wonderful. He protects and covers his girls, tidbits for them then stands back to let them enjoy his findings, has never attempted to attack humans (the time we took him to the vet because we thought he had a bum foot, the vet was impressed by his calm and sweet nature), he is just an all around great rooster. So glad you are giving the little guy a chance. You might have the perfect little roo. He is so cute I will be rooting for him to stay with you
