I have a SLW and a golden buff, and they are both winter hardy (esp the SLW) and lay very often; both laid eggs throughout the winter. The golden buff lays every day, beautiful large brown eggs. The SLW lays most days (like 5-6 eggs/week) and they are medium sized.
The catalog from Meyer Hatchery in OH gives a list of personality, hardiness, etc for each breed they supply. We got our girls from there.
