This morning one of my poults ( 4 days old) appeared to have a droopy wing. I thought his feathers were hung up, but no. The tip of the wing is VERY flexible and is possibly broken.

What should I do ? thanks much.....

If it were a break in the long bones of the wing, I would know how to splint it, but it is really a weakness at the JOINT of the wing tip.
To splint it would freeze the joint possibly, and since the tendon action of extending the wing seems to run through the entire wing, what would freezing that joint do?

I suppose I need a vet to answer this, understandably, but I have not established a poultry vet and I'm sure this is not such an unusual thing. So I'm asking the members for input in case I can't get to a vet.

I would guess that this does no harm to the bird to leave it alone. turkeys don't really fly much, but this bird is designated to be a breeder so I want it to stay as well as possible.

If someone has an answer but is not comfortable putting it online, please PM me. I'm a registered nurse so I know quite a bit about liability!
thanks

I will try to get a pic in tonight, but drawing from my own observational skills, the wing looks very slightly droopy. The other wing is not so there is a difference. One of my other chicks jumped on top of the brooder and the little top fell in on them. The other of the two poults got hit a little, but this one did not seem to.

Anyway I noticed all of this on my way out the door this morning.
The joint is very movable. I did not take the time to see if the other one does the same.

We are experiencing the same thing with our 4 week old turkeys with the droopy and flexible wing . Any suggestions out there?

OK I took a good look last evening and this may be happening just because of the way the feathers are coming in. The other one is doing the same. It looks like the feathers on their right wings are longer than the left and growing faster. The joints at the tip are very flexible on all wings.
So I am just going to watch for now.
The 4 wk olds if both are doing it may be going through a developmental stage also. If they aren't sick just watch them...would be my opinion.
