Good luck! It is so fun!!! Cheeping and sleeping are the norm! Don't be suprised, they just drop and flop and sleep as they fall!

They also fall asleep in WEIRD positions,. so that they look like they are dead....head twisted one way, one foot stuck out....and when you go to touch them to check them they jump up, peep madly and start running around! One of my baby button quail fell asleep standing up with his beak touching the floor...

They do like to encourage each other. I hatched ducks yesterday and one was partly zipped and had stopped for several hours the ones that had already hatched went over there and cuddled next to the egg pecking from the outside and the little fellow got with the program...and finished zipping and out he came.... Good luck with the hatch. Please post pictures!!!!

thank you everyone, i've never experienced anything this exciting before!

we now have two chicks playing bumper eggs and one more is pipping if I knew how rewarding this was i'd have done it a long time ago

I'm so excited for you AND those brave enough to hatch their own. I lost enough sleep just buying 2 day old chicks I can't imagine waking up every hours or so to look at eggs - and waiting.

You filmed one hatching?? Way to cool. Would be great to post that video here, don't know if that's possible or not? My kids (now in their 30's) once took cockatiel eggs (11) and put in my quail incubator. ALL 11 hatched and I hand fed these babies first w/a tooth pick then moved on. Proud to say they all survived. The birds that is

jury is STILL out on my kids... Congrats again will watch this thread to see how it continues for you. Best of luck
