advice please.

My DH bought our current place without me, because it was seven acres, and, oh yeah, a house came with it.

I was really worried about moving into a manufactured home sight unseen, and when I first saw it, after travelling for 24 hours straight, I almost cried. But, it turned out to be the best thing for our family. The house is really nice, big enough for us and most people don't know it's not stick built. One thing you have to get used to though, is that the walls are really thin. Sound carries. We do plan on rebuilding eventually, but it has worked out really well for us. The land is much more important than the building in many respects. And the barn! I love my barn!

Smoke alarms, smoke alarms, smoke alarms.

I wish the best for you and your family, and I know how great it is to have room to roam, PRIVACY, and to be rid of that jerk that lived next door to you.

I have a great fear of my house catching fire while I'm sleeping, don't know why. I just do. If the wiring caught fire here, I don't know if I'd ever sleep again.

Will they replace it?

Smoke alarms. Please, please, please. Just to shut me up, if nothing else!

oh yes, i thought of the smoke alarms almost immediately.
i will indeed be glad to be rid of this jerk...the animal control was supposed to come out and take a report because his dog got out..again! well, instead they came over and took my cat that was sitting on my porch. then tells me that i have to pay an outlandish fine to get her out..and totally forgets about the dog. i called his boss and let him know what happened and within half an hour, i had a very sheepish looking man on my porch giving me my cat back. he then took a report but said he was too busy to talk to him right now.

but he did come back this morning to threaten me about my goats, even though i told him we are moving. i will be so very glad to not have this idiot in my life anymore, seriously!

well, alls well that ends well i guess.

Your townspeople sound more and more charming. It's like a Garrison Keillor book, only everyone that comes within 100 yards of your house turns into a %*^%@&*&$.

Tonight, while you can,

yeah, we are fairly excited to be getting away from this idiot.
now that its all said and done, i am really really sure he is the one who poisoned my chickens..they started just dropping dead last year, all with the same symptoms, and then my goose, then my 2 dogs..but the silkies i bought from a member here are doing fine! and they go out in the yard to play but they mainly stay in the house. even the extension guy called me back finally to say that he thinks they were being poisoned and i have to agree with him. of course, without proof, i cant say it 100 percent.

My father found an old bread truck and backed it up to a hill in his yard, took off the cab part and the tires and then had dirt poured over the truck part - instant tornado protection! We live in Alabama and we have "naders" here frequently too!
