This is our first coop for our first chickens. The dimensions of the coop are 4 feet deep and 8 feet wide. We are installing the roosts along the long back wall. It may be hard to tell from these pics but the lowest roost is 2 feet from the ground level with the poop board a about 10 inches below it and the next roost about a foot above the lower roost yet there is barely enough depth to get a full 14 inches depth between roosts to keep the upper roost inhabitatants from pooping on the lower roost dwellers. Is the first roost at 2 feet off the ground a ok height and how many inches from the back wall would be the least we can put the upper roost? My 6 chickens are just barely over 6 weeks old and I have no idea when they can reach 2 feet tall comfortably. I know they make a foot or so with ease right now and can put a temporary stool for them but I am more concerned that I am making it easily usable for them as they get bigger.

This looks great. My seven week old Ameraucana's roost on a three foot board with no issues. You will be fine with this set up. I took the time to measure, and plan all my roosts out. Then when I put the birds in they rooster four feet up on the wall joists above the windows. Your going to have a blast. Nice coop as well!
