Advice Please!!

Hi,
I want a quail but was looking at all the different breeds and was not sure which one would be best. Can they be kept with chickens? Which breed is the least flighty. Would I be better off getting fertile eggs? This would be my first time owning a quail so advice would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

There are three common kinds of quail; bobwhite, coturnix (aka Pharaoh) and button quail. I would recommend you go with the coturnix. There are many colors available for coturnix quail but they're all about the same from there..some are bigger some are smaller...

You are not supposed to keep game birds with chickens due to diseases that chickens are immune to and game birds are not. All can fly...They're all going to need to be kept in some kind of pen, I don't know anyone that lets them free range like chickens.

Quail chicks don't ship well so fertile eggs are your best bet unless you buy locally. James Marie Farms eggs are top notch.
